Dr. Thomas J. Rishavy:
Thomas J. Rishavy, MD joined Northland Plastic Surgey in August, 2004, and became a partner in the practice in January of 2008. A native of southern Minnesota, Dr. Rishavy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biomedical Sciences at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He attended Medical School at Creighton University of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his residency in general surgery at Detroit Medical Center and his fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Rishavy is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Burn Association. He enjoys teaching and giving presentations to family practice residency students as well as other related groups. Currently, he participates in Duluth's monthly Facial-Dental Clinic, a part of the Minnesota Children with Special Health Needs program.
Outside of work, he and his wife Rebecca enjoy the outdoors, cooking, traveling and skiing with their son Jacob.
Dr. Rishavy and Operation Smile:
Dr. Rishavy traveled to Vietnam October, 2011, volunteering with Operation Smile, a worldwide organization helping children with cleft lips and cleft palates receive free surgeries and medical treatments that would otherwise not be affordable for their families.
